Reckless

This past Saturday was one of the most reckless days of my life!
It started off really casual and cute (brunch).  I went to brunch at EN Restaurant & Bar.
It's a really chic/modern spot in Brooklyn...
Even though we arrived to brunch a bit late (like 3PM) we stll managed to have... brunch
(we're cool with VIP)...
We ended up staying until 12AM...(don't ask!)
Somewhere in between that time, we took a stroll, that's where these pictures come in.
It was one of the best/pleasant moments of yesterday.
We also encountered a lot of foolishness (people/behavior/business).
All in all, it was a reckless, nice, learning experience!

Badu Bi-otch!!

Who: My friend and I
What: Erykah Badu Concert
Where: D.C.
When: May 28, 2010
Why: I enjoy her music; it makes me happy/sad; it's bittersweet; I love her.

It was a very chill atmosphere even though it was in a large venue.
People were still hype...I mean duhh it's Erykah Badu!
I've actually never experienced anything like it before...
I'm used to going to male, headlining concerts of mega R&B superstars/bands.
Never a female, soulful, songstress headliner like Badu (well actually, I've seen MJB...but it's not the same).
Badu is so informal...I dig it!

GOOGLE ME: Jean-Michel Basquiat

.Never Outshine The Master.
I recently came across this photo shoot of Nigerian model Ty Ogunkova in Vogue Hommes International (Spring/Summer 2010, and I was anxious to see if they were going to be able to capture the true essence of Basquat.
The Rebel. Edgy. Different.
I believe they did.
He has been noted by Graham Thompson as the first painter of African descent to become an international art star. To me he embodies the true essence of art...be your OWN.
Check out a brief bio below!
I adore this pic above all.

Jean-Michel Basquiat born in 1960 in Brooklyn, New York. At a young age, he was encouraged by his mother to paint and draw. He started his art career when he dropped out of his Senior year in high school and started selling postcards and t-shirts he has created. In 1981 he joined the Annina Nosei gallery and started exhibiting his pieces along side other great artists like David Salle. It was around this time he joined the Neo-Expressionist Movement, became acquainted with Andy Warhol and began dating Madonna. Basquiat worked on his paintings in Armani suits, which he would often appear in public with paint splats all over them.  By the mid 80s he left the Annina Nosei gallery to the more prominent Mary Boone gallery in SoHo. Basquait was heavily influenced by the punk and graffiti movement. His work were quirky with vibrant blobs of paint and extraordinary shapes. His works often referred to politics and the history of Black People.

Mayweather and May Weather

Yesterday marked the first day of May.
The beginning of my "end."
The day of the big fight...  (heyy Floyd)!
The first day of nasty, humid "may weather."
Please note: I am grateful that it's not raining anymore, but yesterday was ridiculous...
Anyway, I sexed up for the fight party (i.e. thigh highs) and ended up in ghettoville... :(
The events of that night shall not be discussed in detail!
I finally ended up eating at a diner... (food always brings a smile to my face)!
I think I'll stop there...

Zara blouse, vintage earrings & shoulder bag, necklaces & bracelet (unknown), thigh-highs (purchased in Italy), Calvin Klein sheos

If You Didn't Know...Now You Know: Testing Make-Up Could Be Harmful

We all enjoy our fair share of make-up and find it irresistibly fun to test before we purchase.
Well this "fun"...could lead to harmful infections.
According to Dr. Zein Obagi, a dermatologist in Beverly Hills, “You can pass herpes, pink eye and all sorts of things through sharing makeup. If a woman has a cut on her lip and borrows lipstick from someone who has a cold sore, she’ll get a cold sore.”

Don't get me wrong, you can still try it before you buy it. Just be cautious!
Do not share makeup on your eyes, nose or mouth and make sure to sanitize all products before use!
