So, we asked our friend Jean Marc, who btw is a hip hop head to the core, to give us a brief review of the Wale album Attention Deficit that came out on November 10th. Being that we are all originally from the DMV, I have to say we may be a bit bias...lol...but it's all love and we sure do have a lot for our fellow native Wale! And if you haven't bought the album, you really should...you might be pleasantly surprised! Check it out below! Enjoy!
Almost a month since the release of his first solo album, Interscope recording artist, Wale seems to be obtaining great reviews on the project. The album, “Attention Deficit” is not only an introduction for the MC to the world outside of the “DMV”, but it also represents the MC’s stepping stone to introducing the world to the areas rap scene. Although the concept of the album is anonymous, some might say shady, the arrangement of the songs make the album sound sonically superior. Majority of the songs are based around drums used in the DMV native influences of Go-Go. The music on the project contains the true essence of the art form that is “Hip-Hop” from the soulful sampling, story-telling, to the power behind the words of a true lyricist. Although the album offers a much mellow and laid back sound, few tracks such as “chillin” featuring Lady Gaga produced by Cool and Dre and “pretty girls” serve as perfect soundtracks for the party atmosphere. Wale’s “Attention Deficit” is a seldom album, due to the star-studded features from Gucci mane, Pharrell, Bun B, J. Cole, Melanie Fiona and established song-writer and performer Chrisette Michele. Nonetheless the album as whole is just as good as predicted if not surpassing all expectations without making an overstatement. The album is worth the money and your attention regardless of its title.
Until next time,
J-Marx
